When you search for a website on a search engine, do not click on the link that shows Ad in the beginning. These websites may host advertisements that are blocked by Ad tracker.

Fix Problem

To fix this issue, connect your computer or your mobile device to a different VPN region. To connect to a different VPN region, refer to Manually change the geographic location in Norton VPN.

If the issue persists, connect your VPN to a different protocol. To change your VPN protocol setting, depending on your operating system, choose one of the following:

Windows

💡To know the version number of your Norton application, open Norton and navigate to Settings. 
💡If you are using Norton VPN Standard (version 6.x and below), you need to download and install the latest version of Norton VPN. To know more, read Download and install Norton VPN.

Norton VPN (version 24.x and above)

  1. Open Norton VPN app on your desktop.

  2. On the Norton dashboard, do one of the following, depending on your VPN plan:

    • Norton VPN Standard: Click the VPN Preferences tab and choose one of the following protocols: 

      • Automatic (recommended)

      • WireGuard

      • Mimic

      • OpenVPN

    • Norton VPN Plus/Ultimate: Click Settings. In the Settings window,  choose one of the following protocols:

      • Automatic (recommended)

      • WireGuard

      • Mimic

      • OpenVPN

Mac

💡To know the version number of your Norton application, open Norton and navigate to Settings.

Norton VPN (version 24.x and above)

  1. Open Norton VPN app on your desktop.

  2. On the Norton dashboard, do one of the following, depending on your VPN plan:

    • Norton VPN Standard: Click the VPN Preferences tab and choose one of the following protocols: 

      • Automatic (recommended)

      • IPSec

      • Mimic

    • Norton VPN Plus/Ultimate: Click Settings. In the Settings window,  choose one of the following protocols:

      • Automatic (recommended)

      • IPSec

      • Mimic

Android

💡To know the version number of your Norton product, open the Norton app and tap the Menu icon > Settings > About.

Depending on your product, choose one of the following:

Norton VPN (version 4.x and above)

This applies to Norton VPN Standard, Norton VPN Plus and Norton VPN Ultimate users.
  1. Launch Norton VPN.

  2. Tap the Settings icon on the top-right corner of the screen.

  3. In the VPN Preferences screen, tap VPN Protocol Settings.

  4. In the VPN Protocol screen, you can choose one of the following protocols:

    • Automatic (recommended)

    • WireGuard

    • OpenVPN

    • Mimic

Norton 360 (version 5.x and above)

  1. Launch Norton 360.

  2. Tap the Menu icon on the top-left corner of the screen and click Settings.

  3. In the Settings screen, tap Privacy and then tap VPN Protocol Settings.

  4. In the VPN Protocol screen, you can choose one of the following protocols:

    • Automatic (recommended)

    • WireGuard

    • OpenVPN

    • Mimic

You may also try accessing the website using a different browser. If the issue persists, then you may have to temporarily disable Ad Tracker Blocking to visit the website.

Disable Ad Tracker Blocking

Depending on the operating system, choose one of the following:

Windows

Depending on your product, choose one of the following:

Norton VPN

  1. Open Norton VPN on your desktop.

  2. On the Norton dashboard, do one of the following, depending on your VPN plan:

    • Norton VPN Standard: Click Ad Tracker Blocking. In the screen that appears, move the slider to disable Block ad trackers when VPN is on

    • Norton VPN Plus/Ultimate: Click Settings. In the Settings window, move the slider to disable Block Ad Trackers when VPN is on.

Norton 360

Norton 360 (version 22.x and above)

  1. Open Norton 360.

  2. In the My Norton window, click the drop-down arrow next to Secure VPN and click Ad Tracker Blocking.

    In the screen that appears, move the slider to disable Ad Tracker Blocking.

Norton 360 (version 24.x and above)

  1. Open your Norton device security product.

  2. In the Norton dashboard, click Privacy on the left-side of the screen.

  3. In the Privacy window, under Secure VPN, click Open.

  4. In the Secure VPN window, click the Ad Tracking Blocking tab.

  5. In the Ad Tracker Blocking tab move the slider to disable Block Ad Trackers when VPN is on.

Mac

💡To know the version number of your Norton product, open your Norton app and navigate to Settings or go to Help > About.
💡If you are using Norton 360 (version 8.8.x and below), you need to download and install the latest version of Norton VPN. To know more, read Download and Install Norton device product on Mac.

Depending on your product, choose one of the following:

Norton VPN

  1. Open Norton VPN on your desktop.

  2. On the Norton dashboard, do one of the following, depending on your VPN plan:

    • Norton VPN Standard: Click Ad Tracker Blocking. In the screen that appears, move the slider to disable Block ad trackers when VPN is on

    • Norton VPN Plus/Ultimate: Click Settings. In the Settings window, move the slider to disable Block Ad Trackers when VPN is on.

Norton 360 (version 24.x and above)

  1. Open Norton 360.

  2. In the Norton dashboard, click Privacy on the left-side of the window.

  3. In the Privacy window, under Secure VPN, click Open.

  3. In the VPN screen, tap the Settings icon on the top-right corner of the screen.

  4. In the VPN screen, tap Ad Tracker Blocking. In the screen that appears, move the slider to disable Block Ad Trackers.

iOS

💡To know the version number of your Norton product, open your Norton app and go to Menu icon > About.

  1. Launch Norton 360.

  2. Tap the Privacy section and tap the right arrow next to VPN.

  3. Under the Ad Tracker Blocking section, slide Block Ad Trackers to disable Ad Trackers.
